Placing Yogi Adityanath as CM in UP: A wise decision or not?

Till the very end, BJP didn’t name any of its leaders in UP as the CM candidate. After its huge win in the state, people started speculating Rajnath Singh and a few others as the potential CM of the state, but BJP stunned everyone by making Yogi Adityanath as the CM of the state.

As soon as Yogi Adityanath took the oaths the CM, the debates became stronger that whether or not, it’s a wise decision.

Yogi Adityanath – A 5 Term MP from Gorakhpur

Yogi Adityanath is a popular name in the BJP’s UP unit. He has continuously won the elections from the Gorakhpur constituency and became an MP when he was merely 26 years old. He was also the youngest member of 12^th Lok Sabha.

Apart from being the MP, he also serves as the Mahant of the Gorakhnath Temple.

A strong condemner of Love Jihad, Yogi Adityanath has always been surrounded by strong controversies. Whether it is about being a Hindutva mascot or speaking against the conversion of Hindus into the other religions, Yogi has always been the controversy’s favorite child.

Known for his fiery brand speeches, Yogi Adityanath is even linked with the 2007 Gorakhpur riots where his organization “Hindu Vahini Sena” retaliated with trains set on fire. Also, 11 criminal cases have been registered against him till date.

Is it A Wise Decision To Appoint Him As the CM?

Well, many are considering the appointment of Yogi as the CM of the largest state in India as one of the biggest gambles played by the saffron party. People believe that Yogi is a scary figure who should not be given authority and power, as he is a strong Hindu Mascot who is always full of reactionary ideas, Hindu sectarianism and thuggery in the political discourse.

But, Narendra Modi’s opinion is quite different. He knows that he needs more high quality, state-level leaders who possess mass appeal, superior leadership qualities, are bold enough to take strong decisions and are equipped with the administrative acumen. Modi Ji wants BJP to keep on progressing beyond 2019 as the most dominant party of the nation.

Also, he believes that strong state leaders can ensure that that party does not fall prey to the same trap which crippled the Congress party from within and became a reason for the Congress’s downfall.

Many critics slammed Modi for his decision to make Yogi Adityanath as the CM of the state, but contrary to what most people believed, he is coming out with flying colors, He has taken some very strong and much-required decisions in UP within a few days of his appointment.

Whether it is about declaring the assets, or dismissal of the people who were enjoying the ministerial benefits or steps towards making the police force more efficient in the state, he seems to be going in the right direction.

While his beginning is quite impressive, but only the time will tell that how far he manages to take UP on the path of progress.
