The journey

This 260 km journey, lasting about 4-5 hours, is dotted with several breathtaking views along the way. To reach Mahabaleshwar, one can get on NH48 which offers you a sublime and relaxing ride. Along the way, you’ll cross Lonavala, which is another beautiful hill station.

Lonavala is a hot favourite among Mumbaikars for a quick weekend getaway. Savaari offers reliable car rentals from Mumbai to Lonavala at a very reasonable price! Khandala, Wai, and Panchgani are a few other stopovers which are popular among travelers.

An extremely popular food joint among tourists, travellers, and locals – Mapro Garden is located six kilometres after Panchgani. This place is known for its exceptional ambience and delicious food.

With specials such as the Italian delight pizza {INR 499}, along with the classic sandwich {INR 144}, and Strawberry Smoothie, stop here to enjoy their wide variety of delicacies on offer.

Scaling the pratapgarh fort

Also known as “Valor fort”, the Pratapgarh Fort is a major tourist destination in Mahabaleshwar. Divided into two parts – the upper and lower fort, locals and tourists come to enjoy the ridiculously lush green surroundings here.

Photography bucks are hooked to their cameras since the views from the fort are simply magnificent. We’d recommend going to the fort during the day as, once the sun sets, one might have difficulty in navigating back.

Maggi & Chai at elphinstone point

Only 5km from Old Mahabaleshwar town is the gorgeous Elphinstone point. Sit here to enjoy the encapsulating view of the Sahyadri mountain range with a cup of enticing chai and piping hot Maggi.

Boating at venna lake

Constructed in 1942 by Chhatrapati Shri Appasaheb Maharaj, Venna Lake was created to serve the water needs of the people in Mahabaleshwar. An extremely popular activity around the lake is boating. Open only post 4pm, a rowboat is offered at INR 500 for an hour, with a maximum capacity of 7 people.

A paddleboat is also available at INR 440 for an hour, with its capacity being that of 6 people. Do stop by to enjoy the extravagant sunset with family and loved ones. Don’t forget your cameras.
